Shocking: Central government wants photo-publicity of Chief Ministers and cabinet-ministers to retain Supreme Court permission of photos of Prime Minister in government-advertisements

Supreme Court of India

It refers to central government making plea of allowing photos of Chief Ministers and cabinet ministers in government-advertisements in name of federal structure of constitution, and Prime Minister being first amongst equals amongst his cabinet-colleagues! Instead Apex Court should take a corrective step by banning photos of even Prime Minister in government-advertisements. It is noted that states ruled by ruling political party at the centre are grossly using photos of Prime Minister in advertisements of state-governments, which is a sort of misuse of allowing photos of Prime Minister in government-advertisements. Disallowing photos of Prime Minister in government-advertisements will automatically tackle plea of Central government in review-petition.

Supreme Court’s permission to allow photos of Chief Justice of India in government-advertisements is meaningless when the then Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam did not allow printing of his photographs in government-advertisements on 26.09.2013 released for providing an exclusive PIN code number 110201 for Supreme Court where he was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Only photos of President of India in government-advertisements should be allowed, because chances of Chief Justice of India giving consent for photo-publicity are remote.
